CCJVB (Cass County Junior Volleyball) Club was created in the fall of 2018
Why we created CCJVB:
1. My young girls absolutely love volleyball and we love coaching it!
2. I have recently taken back the head volleyball coach position at Belton High School and want to elevate and provide depth in the program. Cheyanne "Lyons" Bailey is the head volleyball coach at Harrisonville High School and we have similar goals for our programs so I asked her to partner with us in the fall of 2018.
3. Club volleyball can be very expensive and time consuming. We feel we are offering the best value possible for young girls to get introduced into club volleyball without the need to travel, a much lower cost and a smaller time commitment.
CLUB PHILOSOPHY:
CCJVB is a skill developmental club that will break down the game of volleyball in manageable progressions for our young athletes. We focus on teaching the foundation of skills first and give feedback on the process more than the initial outcome. Our 13 and under athletes will all be trained to develop proper fundamentals in passing, setting and attacking and will not specialize in only one position in practice. My wife and I have coached 12U volleyball teams in the past and understand the importance of building the foundation and having high expectations that they train the right way. All girls in our program will get equal training opportunities with others on their team. All girls will play in pool play of tournaments, but not necessarily the exact same amount. After advancing to the bracket we will play to win.
PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY:
The biggest priority in the life of the Scherf family is our relationship with Jesus Christ. I have taught adult Sunday school, I lead FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) beltonfca.weebly.com/ at BHS, and have led ministry outreaches for Team Xtreme International http://www.teamxtremeintl.com/ all over the country. The next biggest priority for us is our family. I am fortunate enough to have a wife that shares the same passion for God, family and volleyball. We have four beautiful young girls that complete our family that seem to share the same passions. The next priority is the relationships we build with others, often through that of coaching and training. I have been training youth and adults for over 20 years since I was in college. We love helping young athletes reach their personal and athletic goals and to push them beyond what they see as possible.
While we do not hide where we stand spiritually, we do not push this on any of our athletes or parents. We just attempt to live our life and raise our family in a way that glorifies God and His Son Jesus Christ.
